Your adventure begins with a warm welcome at the Cusco airport, where our staff will be waiting to assist you with your transfer to your selected hotel. Upon arrival, you’ll be offered a revitalizing cup of coca tea to help you adjust to the high altitude. Our team will then provide a detailed briefing about your travel itinerary and answer any questions you may have.
In the afternoon, we embark on a fascinating City Tour to explore some of Cusco’s most iconic sites. Our first stop is Qoricancha, the famous Temple of the Sun, once the most important religious site of the Inca Empire. Cusco is located at approximately 3,400 meters (11,150 feet) above sea level, while Machu Picchu is at 2,430 meters (7,970 feet). To acclimate, we recommend arriving in Cusco a day before your tour, drinking plenty of water, avoiding heavy meals, and drinking coca tea. - 2. What type of train will we take to Machu Picchu?
The tour includes a comfortable tourist-class train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and back. Depending on availability, you may travel on the Expedition or Voyager train. If you wish to upgrade to the Vistadome train for panoramic views, please let us know in advance. - 3. How much walking is involved in this tour?
The tour includes moderate walking, especially during the city tour of Cusco, Sacred Valley visits, and Machu Picchu exploration. At Machu Picchu, you will walk for about 2 hours during the guided tour, and an additional hike may be required if you visit Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. - 4.
