Day 1: Arrival in the City of Cusco
Upon arrival in Cuzco at an elevation of 3,400m (11,154 feet), you will be warmly greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After a short initial briefing, you’ll have a few hours to rest and acclimatize to the altitude, which is essential for the success of your upcoming adventure.
In the afternoon, we embark on a half-day city tour of Cuzco, where every alleyway and corner unveils a rich history. The city, once the capital of the vast Inca Empire, is a mix of impressive Inca architecture and elaborate colonial buildings. We start by visiting the Catedral (Cathedral), an exquisite example of colonial architecture, followed by a tour of Coricancha (the Temple of the Sun), one of the most important Inca sites, showcasing the brilliance of Inca stonework.
Next, we explore four of the most renowned Inca ruins just outside the city: Sacsayhuaman, a massive ceremonial complex with gigantic stones; Qenqo, a ceremonial center; Puca Pucara, a military structure, and Tambo Machay, an ancient Inca bath. Day 2: Full Day Sacred Valley Tour: Chinchero, Maras, Moray & Ollantaytambo
After breakfast, we leave Cuzco and journey to the Sacred Valley, crossing the Chinchero Plateau, where you will be treated to impressive views of three mountain ranges. We descend into the valley, where we visit Chinchero, an important Inca site known for its magnificent stone walls and terraced fields. This village is also considered the mythical birthplace of the rainbow.
From Chinchero, we continue our journey to the Maras Salt Mines, a remarkable site consisting of over 3,000 salt pools, dating back to pre-Inca times. These pools, carved into the mountainside, are still used today for salt production.
Next, we visit the enigmatic Moray, an ancient agricultural research center with circular terraces that some believe were used by the Incas for experimenting with crop production at different altitudes.
Our final stop for the day is Ollantaytambo, a village famous for its impressive Inca ruins, including an unfinished temple constructed from massive granite blocks hauled from quarries over 8 km away. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the site and visit a traditional Inca house.

Day 3: Mollepata – Trek to Markokasa

Day 5: Trek through Salkantay Pass – Pampa japonesa – Descent towards the Inca Canal
Day 5 will be a spectacular day, beginning with a challenging but rewarding hike through the Salkantay Pass, located just beneath the towering, eternal snowcaps of Salkantay Mountain. As we ascend to the pass, we will be treated to awe-inspiring views of the surrounding rugged terrain, with jagged peaks, alpine meadows, and glacial valleys stretching as far as the eye can see. This is truly one of the most striking parts of the trek, offering an unforgettable experience amidst the Andean mountains.

Our reward at the end of our epic 10-days journey is the amazing panorama as we arrive at the great Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. We will enjoy a 2 1/2 hour guided tour of Machu Picchu. After the tour we will have lunch at Sanctuary Lodge, then take the bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, from which we will catch the train back to Cuzco. Upon arrival, we will transport you from the train station in Cuzco to your hotel.

Day 10: Departure from Cuzco – Transfer to Lima – International Flight
On the final day of your journey, after breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Cuzco’s Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport for your flight back to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima, you will be met by a representative who will assist you with the check-in process for your international flight. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time to explore Lima or relax at the airport before boarding your flight.
